After a spike in cases in the Stillwater and Payne County areas, Stillwater Medical Center has released a surge plan.

The surge plan was activated on Monday. Officials reported 15 patients in the hospital with COVID-19, which is an increase of seven over the past week. Officials say three people are in ICU.

According to The Stillwater News Press, Stillwater Medical Center’s CEO Denise Webber wrote a statement to the local newspaper that “an increase in admissions has pushed us into our surge plan. We have expanded our COVID-19 beds by converting more regular patient rooms. The rise in hospital admissions, although not currently on the scale seen elsewhere in the country, is concerning”.

According to KOCO 5 in Oklahoma City, Stillwater Medical Center has 38 of their 55 beds in use.
