SHARE NOW

Longtime Ponca City Cross Country Coach Kelly Chaney passed away yesterday. Kelly Chaney came to Ponca City in 1985 after coaching at Dixon High School and Pauls Valley High School.  As a player, Kelly played for L.D. Bains at Miami High.  As we look back, Coach Chaney was the varsity linebacker coach his first year under Hall of Fame Coach Ron Harmon.  Others on that staff included Rick Poole, Rusty Benson, Ken Chronister and Johnny Woody.  After leaving the football coaching position, Kelly became the cross country coach for both the boys and girls programs.  A position he held until his sudden death.  Funeral services are pending.
