The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 3,781 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, Jan. 7. Oklahoma’s seen 315,354 COVID-19 cases overall as 34,854 cases are active.
A total of 39 virus-related deaths were documented on Thursday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 2,672. Three deaths were reported for Kay County as two were for Ponca City and one for Blackwell. The individuals were a male in the 36-49 age group, a female in the 50-64 age group and a male in the 65 or older age group. Other deaths for local counties include two Logan County males in the 65 or older age group, two Osage County females in the 65 or older age group, a Payne County female in the 65 or older age group and three Washington County males, one in the 50-64 age group and two in the 65 or older age group. It’s uncertain as to how many of the deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.
Kay County also saw an increase with 42 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 3,661 cases, 43 deaths and 3,097 recoveries. Data for Kay County communities is posted below:

As for new COVID-19 cases in local counties, there are 71 for Payne, 47 for Garfield, 44 for Osage, 41 for Washington, 27 for Pawnee, 20 for Logan, five for Noble and three for Grant. Data for local counties is posted below:

OSDH also reported 3,171 new recoveries for Thursday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 277,828. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Thursday, there have been 2,462,941 total negative test results, 18,193 hospitalizations and 1,987 people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. There are 488 patients in ICU.
As of Thursday, there have been 174,900 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine received across Oklahoma as 50,330 doses have been administered.
