Tonkawa residents in the 400 block of N. 9th Street were awoken by the sounds of gunshots, this morning. On Saturday, June 05, 2021 at approximately 2:56 a.m., the Tonkawa Police Department Communications Center received reports of gunshots in the area of N. 9th Street and W. College Street.
Police quickly responded and checked the area. The residents were interviewed and stated they heard gun fire and, shortly thereafter, heard a vehicle speed away on N. 9th Street. Tonkawa Police observed bullet holes in the exterior and interior of a single residence. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident. Officials of the Fort Oakland Police Department and Kay County Sheriffs Office assisted Tonkawa PD. Police converged on the area and conducted a thorough search for any evidence or possible threats to the public.
