SHARE NOW

Associated Press reports that two inmates escaped from authorities after overpowering two transport officers early yesterday morning on US 412 north of Fairview and taking the transport van.  Major County Sheriff Steve Randolph said the two were being transported to a prison in Kansas by an inmate transport company when the escape occurred.

The inmates, Andrew Foy and Darren Walp abandoned the transport van in Ringwood and stole a truck.  A duty belt was found with a holster, but no gun was in it according to Undersheriff Darin Reames.  Reames also said the transport officers were not armed.

Eight prisoners were being transported when the break occurred, but the other six inmates stayed with the two guards.

The escapees are thought to be in a red truck with the license plate DEL244.  Anyone who see the truck or inmates is asked to call 911 immediately.
