Valgora and Jones win Miss NOC Tonkawa and Enid for 2022 year

NOC.edu reports that the winners of the dual Miss Northern Oklahoma College Scholarship Competition held at NOC Tonkawa Oct. 26 were Mia-Claire Jones, Miss NOC Enid 2022 and Emma Valgora, Miss NOC Tonkawa 2022.

They were crowned, respectively, by Miss NOC Enid 2020-21 Emily Hall, Enid, and by Miss NOC Tonkawa 2020-21 Carli Pendleton, Tonkawa.

Each received a $1000 scholarship expense award, Miss America crown and pin, sash and a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses. They will advance to the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant in Tulsa next June, according to pageant co-directors Terri Sunderland, NOC Enid, and Shannon Varner, NOC Tonkawa.

The new Miss NOC Enid is a sophomore majoring in pre-medicine. She performed “Canon in D” by Pachelbel on the piano. Her Social Impact Statement was “Adoption: Helping to Build Families.”

Miss NOC Tonkawa 2022 is a freshman majoring in music theatre. She is the daughter of Jill Valgora of Ponca City. Her talent was “O mio babbino caro” by Giacomo Puccini. Her Social Impact Statement was “Pause. Provide. Prevent. Ending the Stigma to Prevent Suicide.”

First runners-up to NOC Tonkawa was Chandler Brown, Ponca City. She received a $600 scholarship expense award.

Second runner-up to Miss NOC Tonkawa was Makayla Seeney, Kingston, Oklahoma who received a $400 scholarship expense award.

Others vying for the title of Miss NOC Enid were Carina Ramirez, Garber, and Kaylyn Marr, Enid. Others in the Miss Tonkawa Scholarship Competition were Addison Doyen, Tonkawa; Mikayla Kraus, Okarche; Mariah Moberly, Oklahoma City; Regan Clapper, Pawnee; Stephanie Henry, Ponca City; and Hannah Haley, Tonkawa. Each received a $250 tuition waiver participation award.

Candidates were judged in artistic expression, presence and poise in evening wear and on-stage question. Earlier in the day they were individually interviewed by the judges.

Dr. Edward Dixon, NOC Fine Arts Division chair, served as master of ceremonies for the evening. Miss Oklahoma 2021 Ashleigh Robinson performed for the audience.

Special entertainment was by Miss NOC Tonkawa 202-21, singing “Journey to the Past.” Miss NOC Enid sang, “How Great Thou Art.”

Escorting the Miss NOC 2020-21 royalty as they made their farewell walks were Oklahoma Stars Makenna Fischer with Miss Hall. Miss Pendleton’s Stars Amara Anderson and London Anderson of Muskogee were not able to attend.

NOC President Dr. Clark Harris, presented official portraits to Miss Pendleton and Miss Hall.
