The Oklahoma State Department of Health released their weekly epidemiology report on Wednesday, October 27.
Data shows that throughout the week of October 17 -23, 5,604 new COVID-19 cases, 7,283 recoveries and 170 deaths were documented. Since early 2020, 36,422 individuals in the state have been hospitalized due to COVID. CDC COVID Data Tracker lists that 11,109 individuals have been tested in the last 7 days. The average age of cases was 39 years and average age of individuals who died was 73 years. The youngest case was less than a year old while the oldest case was 100+ years. The youngest to die from COVID was less than 15 years while the oldest to die was 100+ years.
From October 19-25, 56,686 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. This includes at least 13,386 rounds of one dose, 159,611 booster shots and 12,554 Oklahomans becoming fully vaccinated. As of October 26, 1,965,685 Oklahomans are fully vaccinated and 4,405,452 vaccine doses have been administered.
For Kay County, 52.5% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is a .4% increase compared to last week. The percentage of fully vaccinated individuals in the county is 44.9%, which is a .5% increase from last week. For fully vaccinated percentages for surrounding counties, Grant is at 45%, Garfield at 53.3%, Noble at 65.6%, Pawnee at 51.7% and Osage at 35.1%.
So far for October, the amount of non-vaccinated people hospitalized in the last 30 days due to COVID is 1,576, the number of vaccinated people hospitalized is 278 and 79 partially vaccinated individuals.
The Delta variant has been the dominant form of COVID at Oklahoma’s with 5,931 cases since January. As for other variants since January, there have been 471 of the Alpha variant, 7 of the Beta variant, 35 of the Gamma variant, 2 of the Eta variant, 15 of the Iota variant, 1 of the Kappa variant, 47 of the Lambda variant and 15 of the Mu variant.
