The National Weather Service in Norman has put Kay County and much of northern Oklahoma under a Wind Advisory that remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
All the counties included in the advisory are Harper, Woods, Alfalfa, Grant, Kay, Ellis, Woodward, Major, Garfield, Noble, Roger Mills, Dewey, Custer, Blaine, Kingfisher, Logan, Payne, Beckham, Washita, Caddo, Canadian, Oklahoma, Lincoln, Grady, McClain, Cleveland, Pottawatomie, Seminole, Hughes, Harmon, Greer, Kiowa, Jackson, Tillman, Comanche, Stephens, Garvin, Murray, Pontotoc, Cotton, Jefferson, Carter, Johnston, Love and Marshall.
Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Northwest winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph are expected. Gusts in excess of 50 mph will be possible across northern and western Oklahoma.
National Weather Service in Tulsa has placed also issued a Wind Advisory for all of northeast Oklahoma until 5 p.m. Western Osage and Pawnee counties could see wind gusts up to 55 mph.
Areas of blowing dust will be possible, which could result in significant visibility changes over short distances. Motorists use caution.
