A Winfield businessman and his mother were critically injured yesterday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident.
60-year-old Vijay Sherring and his mother, 82-year-old Elizabeth Sherring, were hospitalized as a result of the crash. The mother was taken from the scene to a Wichita hospital in critical condition. Vijay Sherring was initially hospitalized in Winfield in serious condition but was later downgraded to critical and transferred to Wichita.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Witnesses told the Winfield Police Dept. that Sherring was driving north on the K 360 bypass when he disregarded a stop sign and struck a 2005 Chevy Silverado Driven by 27 year old Dustin Littrell of Burden that was eastbound on 160. Littrell was not injured.
