SHARE NOW

Travel conditions are quickly deteriorating heading into the evening hours as slick and hazardous conditions are reported across several areas of the state. If travel is necessary, drivers are urged to go slow and drive for the conditions.

The Oklahoma and Tulsa metro areas are slick and hazardous, and drivers should use extreme caution on the evening rush hour.

In central Oklahoma, I-35 and I-40 are considered very slick. Southern counties near the Texas border are all slick with temperatures hovering near freezing. I-35 in southern counties of Murray, Carter and Love is slick and being treated.

Salt and sand operations continue on bridges and overpasses in southwest Oklahoma with slick conditions in Caddo, Washita, Beckham, Greer, Jackson and Tillman and Kiowa counties.

Conditions in northeast Oklahoma are quickly changing as precipitation moves through the area.

Also slick is eastern Oklahoma in and around the Muskogee area, in southeastern Oklahoma in Atoka, Marshall, Bryan and Pittsburg counties and in Coal, Hughes and Johnston counties.

Crews are removing fallen trees and treating roads in LeFlore county on higher elevations along US-259. Crews in far southeastern Oklahoma are monitoring rising flood waters in the area. The lone flooding-related highway closure on SH-31 near McAlester in Pittsburg County is now open.

If travel is necessary, drivers should check local weather conditions before traveling and be sure to allow plenty of extra time to reach destinations.
