Cherry Avenue and N. 10th in Ark City will be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday.

According to a news release from the City Tuesday, crews will begin work on storm drainage repairs and road base rehab.

Work will last at least one week, weather permitting.

The City is also continuing its annual fire hydrant flushing program, with work proceeding all across north Ark City starting on Friday.

The Environmental Services Department will begin flushing Section 10, which contains a total of 41 fire hydrants, all east of the Walnut River, mainly in the Crestwood and Summit Acres neighborhoods.

Flushing will continue in Section 10 through at least July 19th. All flushing will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays only.

Water customers in this area might experience temporary discoloration or low water pressure during this fire hydrant flushing program.

Most discoloration can be corrected by flushing a faucet for a few minutes, but if flushing does not correct the problem or if you continue to notice a pressure loss, call (620) 441-4480 (Office) or (620) 441- 4492 (On Call Phone after 4 P.M.)

The Environmental Services Department advises that you do not wash laundry if your water is discolored because that can stain the items permanently.

If laundry does become stained, please leave the items wet, call one of the numbers above and a detergent designed to remove the stains will be delivered to your address.
