Band Director Sentenced For Sex Crimes

A former Edmond high school band director who was charged with soliciting sex from a student has been sentenced.

29-year-old Cameron Kyle Kedy pleaded guilty to second-degree rape. He was sentenced to 10 years probation and was ordered to complete 20 hours of community service.

Defense attorney John W. Coyle III says Kedy will also have to register as a sex offender for life.

Kedy admitted to having sex with an 18-year-old student, who told authorities that she and Kedy had sex “way less” than 20 times, while he was a band director at Edmond Memorial High School.

Prosecutors say the alleged offense occurred between August 2014 and May 2015.

Kedy resigned from the high school in May 2015.
