Citing the heinous, atrocious and cruel nature of the murder of a law enforcement officer, and based on a belief that the killer – Nathan LeForce – would likely be a continuing threat to society, District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas filed the official documents Thursday morning. LeForce is being held without bond. His preliminary hearing is set to take place on August 7. He’s been appointed the special defense team that handles death penalty cases.
