Charges of disturbing the peace have been filed after a firecracker incident at the Kay County Courthouse.
Billie Glass III was charged after allegedly throwing a firecracker out of a vehicle on the courthouse circle.
A courthouse deputy was called after a report of shots fired outside the courthouse. Witnesses said a dark colored vehicle drove through the circle, and a passenger threw the firecracker.
Commissioners discussed courthouse security since the incident. Law enforcement officials say they weren’t contacted until the incident was over. Undersheriff Steve Kelley says he will be developing new security proposals in the future.
