Hearing Set In Tonkawa Shooting Incident

A preliminary hearing date has been set for a 28-year-old California man charged with several felonies.

Micah Morris of Hanford, CA is accused of shooting at Brandon Turner, a Tonkawa police officer, early in the morning of July 20th. The charges include shooting with intent to kill, possession of a firearm after conviction of a felony and endangerment while he eluded police during a chase that ended several states away.

Morris was apprehended near Holbrook, Arizona by the Arizona Highway patrol July 27th. He appeared in court July 29th, and was assigned counsel during the Brill hearing. Judge David Bandy also ruled that all Kay County judges recuse themselves from the case. A conflict judge will be assigned.
