On 03/04/2017 at 2125 hours, Sgt. Shannon Wathor was dispatched to 545 Sunnybrook in the Lake Harbor Addition near 106 Lane and Furguson in reference to a burglary that had occurred in the last week. Crime scene was processed and evidence was collected. After completing at that scene, he was advised by other resident’s of multiple burglaries that had all occurred around the same time. He then began taking multiple theft reports in the area.
On 03/05/2017 at approx. 1830 hours while performing a follow-up on the burglaries, a juvenile suspect and an adult suspect were identified. An interview was conducted with the juvenile who confessed to at least 5 burglaries in the area in the last couple of weeks. Several stolen items were recovered from the juvenile to be returned to the owners. He then located the adult suspect who was arrested, transported to the Kay County Sheriff’s Office and interviewed. The adult suspect confessed to the same burglaries and 2 more that were not yet reported in the area. Sgt. Wathor was able to locate and recover more stolen items to be returned to the owners.
The juvenile male was arrested and transported to a juvenile detention center in El Reno and the adult male was arrested and booked into the Kay County Jail. Both suspects have been charged with 7 counts of 2nd Degree Burglary.
Case is pending further notification of victims who are not aware that their burglaries.
On 03/06/2017 while conducting follow ups, more burglaries were found in the area that victims were unaware of.
More charges are expected to be filed in the coming days.
