A Ponca City man was injured after a semi-truck collision yesterday in Kay County.

51 year old Milburn Mehojah was taken by AirEvac to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS., and admitted in stable condition with trunk internal, arm, and leg injuries.

Mehojah’s Ford truck was traveling northbound on US 77 near Newkirk when his truck struck the semitrailer driven by 71 year old Eugene Burnham of Pond Creek. The Ford was dragged some 200 feet after the collision, and Mehojah was pinned inside his vehicle for some 25 minutes. Burnham wasn’t injured.

Mehojah was freed by members of the Newkirk and Kildare Fire Departments.

OHP determined the cause of the accident to be an improper right turn by Burnham.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Kelle #493 of the Kay/Noble Detachment of Troop K, Perry. He was assisted by Trooper Martens #691, Trooper Vaughan #832, Kay County Sheriff, Newkirk Fire Department, Newkirk Police Department, Kildare Fire Department, and Air Evac.
