LED lighting was a major topic of discussion at the Tonkawa School Board Meeting this week.
LED lighting has been shown in some case studies to be more cost-efficient, requiring minimal maintenance.
The contract with Oklahoma LED was approved at the meeting. Their estimate is a monthly savings of around $4500 on lighting costs. The contract calls for payments of just over $4000 monthly for 72 months. Oklahoma LED will make the first six payments. The payments will begin in early 2017.
The school’s rebate from the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority will help. A payment of just over $12,000 will go directly to Oklahoma LED.
In other board business, preliminary enrollment numbers were released. The district is up 18 students for a total of 750. New pre-school enrollments have been put on a waiting list.
