One Injured In Vehicle/Train Collision

A vehicle train collision was reported this morning at 6:54am at the Albany crossing. The female occupant was transported from the scene by ambulance to the Alliance Medical Center with extensive injuries. She was flown by helicopter to OU Children’s Medical Center.

The vehicle driver, 20 year old Yvonne Adams, was stopped on Albany at the railroad tracks on the east side. The crossing arms were down. There was a north bound train stopped, Adams went around the crossing arms and then the passenger side of her vehicle was struck by a south bound train.

The South Avenue underpass and the Highland Avenue underpass remain open. The crossing on Prospect is open as well. Other railroad crossings in Ponca City will remain closed for several hours.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe, the Ponca City Police Department along with the National Transportation Safety Board are all investigating.
