From A News Release
The Oklahoma Department Of Human Services is changing its procedures for lost SNAP cards due to budget cuts.
The department said clients who need replacement benefit cards will now have to wait up to 7 day to receive the cards.
EBT cards for Child Care Subsidy, first-time SNAP applicants, and households eligible for emergency or “expedited” SNAP benefits will still be issued in the DHS office.
Cuts in department staffing is said to be the blame. Officials say the DHS has lost more than 1,200 employees in the last couple of years.
Nearly 25,000 cards are issued for SNAP benefits each month and almost 15,000 of those are replacement cards.
