The Tonkawa Board of Education has awarded a contract for roofing work at the elementary school.
The total cost will be just under 2 hundred 43 thousand dollars. It includes fees for the roofing, insulation, and a 20-year hail warranty.
Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal will do the work.
The roof will be a ‘retrofit’. It will be colored tan and include gutters and downspouts.
The permit still leaves money in the construction budget. It may be used to replace ceiling tiles damaged by water leaks.
In a related item, filing for service with the Tonkawa School Board opens next month.
Two positions will be up for election. Cara Johnson holds position two, and Casey McAninch is in position five. Both will seek election.
Eligibility requirements include residing within the district for at least six months, and being a registered voter in Kay County.
Filing opens December 5th at 8 a.m. at the county election board HQ in Newkirk. Filing ends at close of business December 7th.
The annual school election will be held February 14th.
